The success of the series has led to hundreds of related products, including novels, comic books, and video games, and has received attention from fandom (including fan-made films), parodies, and academics, and has influenced the direction of other television series.[15][16] The series, as well as its spin-off Angel, and its extensions, have collectively been referred to as the «Buffyverse». As of 2018, a reboot of the series is in development, with Monica Owusu-Breen as showrunner.[17] The series is currently in development.[18] As of 2018, a reboot of the series, with Monica Owusu-Breen as showrunner.[17
Buffy receives guidance from her Watcher, Rupert Giles (Anthony Stewart Head). rarely referred to by his first name (it is later revealed that in his younger misspent days he went by «Ripper»), he is a member of the Watcher’s Council, whose job is to train and guide the Slayers. Giles researches the supernatural creatures Buffy must face, offers insight into their origins and advice on how to defeat them, and helps her stay in fighting shape.
Screenwriter Joss Whedon says that «Rhonda, the Immortal Waitress» was really the first incarnation of the Buffy concept, «the idea of a woman who appears to be completely insignificant, but turns out to be extraordinary.» [20] This early, unproduced idea evolved into Buffy, which Whedon developed to reverse the Hollywood formula of «the blonde girl who walks into a dark alley and gets killed in every horror movie.»[21] Whedon wanted to «subvert that idea and create someone who was a hero.»[21] He explained, «The first mission statement of the series was the joy of female power: to have it, to use it, to share it.»[22]

Pop culture was never the same after Buffy Summers (Sarah Michelle Gellar) started turning the undead into piles of dust in «Buffy the Vampire Slayer.» In addition to conveying messages of female empowerment, the series’ unique combination of horror, teen drama, action and humor changed what was possible in popular media. It helped make serialized storytelling more popular on primetime television, which increased audience expectations for smart, snarky dialogue, helped herald the era of geek chic, and made us realize that a word like «apocalypse» could somehow have a plural form.
After Sunnydale made her final plunge into the Hellmouth, Gellar left Buffy behind seemingly forever. While the character appears in one of the final episodes of «Angel,» it wasn’t Gellar playing Buffy and you never see the actress’ face. As recently as 2019, Gellar made it clear that she has no interest. in returning to the role.

Buffy 5×3

You may have heard that the series was the victim of a fateful remastering in 2014, perpetrated by Fox. It’s true, and the result is as horrendous as they say: the series, conceived in 4:3 cathodic format goes to a 16:9 adapted to current televisions, but that brings a number of problems, because it is carried out based on digital reframing and zooms. Areas with excessive air, shots recomposed in a terrible way and even moments in which the technical team can be seen. In addition, the shots are transformed, and open frames become close-ups, spoiling the original planning.
There’s more: the original color palette has been destroyed. The first seasons were filmed in 16mm, with its consequent natural grain in the image, but the remastering is loaded with a horrendous and artificial image smoothing filter. Faces no longer have detail and, in addition, the colors are transformed and the image is lightened, which results in certain sequences not making sense: Buffy going to sleep in broad daylight or a melancholy walk on the beach at dawn is now transformed into a picnic in the sun.
